HOLE 8 - Dyke
Yards: 525 (White) | 517 (Yellow) | 464 (Red)
Par: 5 SI: 5 (White) | 3 (Red) The longest hole on the course and a genuine test of length and accuracy. The Leithen Water runs to the right and is the biggest danger off the tee — keep it left. A drive that crosses the road onto the 6th fairway is still in bounds, though it leaves a longer and more awkward route in. The fairway then narrows through a gap in the stone dyke around 80 yards short of the green, which demands a well-placed second or third shot. The large double green — shared with the 4th — offers a birdie opportunity, but only for those who have navigated the dyke and found the correct section of the putting surface. HOLE 17
Yards: 525 (White) | 517 (Yellow) | 464 (Red)
Par: 5 SI: 6 (White) | 4 (Red) Same tee positions as the front 9 for whites and yellows. Red tees play from a different position on the back 9, offering a slightly different angle into the fairway. The river, the road and the dyke all remain — and the birdie opportunity is still there for those who keep their head. |
