No sooner had the dust settled on the February medal, and Innerleithen players were out again for the March round. The sun shone briefly, but was lasting for Keith Hay, dominating proceedings with a commanding round of 66 (gross 81). Further down the field saw a tight bunch, with Paul McKewan (69, gross 85), Raymond Caine (69, gross 75) and Neil Ballantyne (69, gross 76) vying for the remaining top places. Paul and Raymond took 2nd and 3rd respectively on count back. Congratulations also go to Jack Philip, walking away with the nearest the pin prize for the day.
A bitterly cold frost and Winter greens didn’t put off the Innerleithen players today, as the Winter Stableford entered into Round 5. Despite starting with an ‘NR', Tony Farndon rallied to post the winning score of 41pts. Richard Quinn was just 2 behind on 39pts, cursing his bad luck on the 18th. Noel Dashwood-Brady completed the lineup also with 39 pts.
Members were out in force last weekend for the February Medal, determined to try and beat the wet and windy conditions experienced all winter. The morning starters had the better of the day, Ian Stewart turning in a blistering score of 65 (gross 74) to emerge as the overall winner by two shots over Keith Norman (67, gross 77). Michael McGovern completed the top three with a hard fought 68 (gross 80). All three have now qualified for the Super Medal.
We are pleased to be introducing a new club Newsletter, which is available below.
The Glendinning December Medal is ON tomorrow. The course is drying out with no further rain forecast. It is hoped that the majority if not all the main greens will be playable by morning. Book your tee time in BRS.
Update on course status. The course remains closed because of remnant snow and frozen conditions. With warmer weather expected we hope to open the course again tomorrow or Friday, and the medal competition to go ahead on Saturday. We will update as the picture becomes clearer.
The January medal has been postponed tomorrow because of course conditions (snow). Keep an eye out on BRS booking for new date.
